Everything you need to know before buying a small single bed
You can’t always go for the biggest bed possible. You might have limitations with the bedroom you need to work with. It could be the simple case of having a box bedroom where any size of bed will be a tight squeeze. It could be that the bedroom is going to be shared, but bunk beds are out of the question.
Small single beds might be some of the smallest we have in stock, but there’s no doubting they’re the mightiest. They’re a great option for any home, and with the range we have available right now, you’re sure to find a great deal on most small single styles than you think.
But what should you know if this is your first time buying a small single bed? Here are some of the key things to be aware of, that we at Bedtime help customers understand to make a considered purchase.
Understanding the different types of small single bed
Bedtime strives to give customers as much choice as possible. With our small single bedframes able to fit a 2'6 wide mattress perfectly, you’ll want to find a bed that matches the functionality of your bedroom. That’s why we have a wide range of different small single beds, including:
Small Single Upholstered Beds
Ideal if you want a nice colour fabric around the sides of the bed or like to have a soft headboard you can rest against, especially in tighter bedrooms where you can’t have a chair.
Small Single Divan Beds
Helps make installation easier and can come with optional storage to save space. Our smaller version of the Supreme Divan Base frequently sells out.
Small Single Storage Beds
Any chance you get to have a smaller bedroom gain storage space needs taken up on. We tend to stock these in multiple colours to match different room styles.
Small Single Ottoman Beds
A must-have option if you’re faced with a very small room where every square inch matters. The simple lifting mechanism is great for storing away anything, especially in children’s bedrooms.
If you’re interested in lightweight options or don’t want a traditional wooden bed, we recommend looking at some of our small metal beds, many of which have plenty of room for storage under the frame.
What is the height of a small single bed?
Being slightly less common than other beds, those buying a small single bed will often do so due to space issues in a room. To help give some clarity, the next time you have a tape measure out, the average dimensions for a small single bed with a headboard are as follows :
Type |
Width |
Length |
Height |
Small Single |
77cm |
190cm |
36cm |
Now, that will vary depending on the product you buy (e.g., if you’re buying a metal frame or a bed without a headboard etc). We also recommend you give yourself a tolerance of around 2.5cm/1 inch to get a better idea of how much space a small single bed really will take up.
Getting a better night’s sleep in a small single bed
Just because you don’t have that much space in the bedroom doesn’t mean you’ll miss out on a good night’s sleep. The Bedtime mattress finder is the easiest way to figure out what type of mattress you need; not just for the bed, but for improving your sleep patterns. Just answer a few questions and we’ll the finder will quickly figure out what mattress you should buy.
Making bed assembly easer
If needed, we offer an assembly service upon delivery. This proves very helpful if you’re too busy or ordering a bed for someone who may need assistance getting it ready for use.
